I must have cabin fever this year,I want it to snow and be gone in about a week and then have mild weather until spring,by mild I mean highs in the 40-50 range all winter,so we can go out doors most days---am I asking to much?----I hear we are going to have 11-12 degree nights about the middle of next week-------I have put new thick carpet down in Saddy's dog house and bought extra heat lamp bulbs in case one goes out on a cold night, yes I check on my out side dog (a lab)on cold nights,(one year I went to wal-mart at 2am for a bulb because hers shot out)I want her to be warm, she loves her new floor already, she is curled up on it now. Heat lamps work well to heat dog houses, putting clear split flaps over the door help keep the heat in and she can see out.
Right next door there are two dogs tied out no dog houses and robes are not long enough for them to get to a warm spot to block cold or wind, this really bothers me.I will be watching to see if any thing changes when we get the cold nights.Every dog needs a house with at lest hay in it.I just hate to see people have animals and not take good care of them. Making a dog house warm really does not cost that much.
My in side dog thinks he is human most the time I think,he sure has it made now,he did spend about 6 months out side in a pen before I got him,he was eat up in fleas and not much room to walk around and not let out and taken on walks either,he is blind,I just had to bring him home one day,I got him before winter came and gave him 3 bathes to kill fleas,he knows who rescued him,he is my buddy,he loves hubby but let me walk into the room and here he comes, hubby says he listens for me when I am gone and as soon as I drive up he gets ready for me to walk in.He is a sweet dog and my company on nights when hubby has to work.
If you have a out side pet I hope you have made a warm place for it to get out of the cold. I hope you are ready and prepared for the winter weather,we have our generaters ready in case we loose electricity(we have 3 of them-we loan out two to family if they need them or to a renter),we have a safe room under ground in our basement,in case it storms bad-----if I happen to have children here when it comes a bad storm we go to our safe room; which has a bed, sofa, bookcase full of books, exercise equipment,TV and there it is hard to hear it thunder.
Stay safe and warm, get ready for WINTER it is on it's way!
